Coach Osborne:  More than Winning and A Day in the Life of Husker Football
Coach Osborne: More Than Winning In 1997, Tom Osborne became the first college football coach to win 250 games in only 25 years. With his retirement in early 1998, sportswriters began placing his name with legends of the game—Paul “Bear” Bryant, Woody Hayes and Knute Rockne. But Osborne did something that none of these coaches had ever accomplished—he won three national championships in four years.
Winning football games, however, is only part of the story of a man whose most valued work took place off the field. The NET Television documentary “Coach Osborne: More Than Winning” examines the private side of a man who built character along with muscle in the Nebraska football program and became a father figure to hundreds of players. The documentary also chronicles the championship seasons in which the triumphs on the field were sometimes matched by intense human dramas unfolding off the field. Emmy Award-winning ABC sportscaster Keith Jackson narrates.  A Day in the Life of Husker Football Go behind the scenes to places usually off-limits to the public and the press, with the NET Television “A Day in the Life of Husker Football.” On November 1, 1997, Coach Tom Osborne became the first college coach in history to win 250 games in only 25 years. He defeated Nebraska’s arch-rival, the Oklahoma Sooners, by the largest margin in the series history.  Nine cameras from NET Television were there to capture the event in intimate detail. Exclusive scenes include team meetings, pregame and halftime locker room pep talks, and Osborne’s sideline conversations with quarterback Scott Frost. Also included are backstage glimpses of the band, cheerleaders, HuskerVisionTM and hundreds of other individuals and organizations who help make Husker Football Nebraska’s favorite sports spectacle.
